Juridical status of the TIs today

 

See below a table-summary of the status of the Indigenous Lands (TIs) in Brazil. In order to make it easier to understand, the various stages of the process for their official recognition were divided in four groups. Each line corresponds to a situation in this process; from the top to the bottom, the colors indicate status from the initial stages to the final stages of recognition. Click on the table to:

(1) know why the status "to be identified", "undergoing identification" and "with restricted use" can be put together in the same group, the same as with "reserved", "homologued" and "registered";

(2) know the TIs that are in each status and understand what that actually means.

* The percentage of the TIs to be identified and undergoing identification is distorted because their extensions have not been officially defined
