Free Image Licensing Policy

The Socio-Environmental Institute safeguards the copyright and image rights of the materials that comprise its audiovisual collection, which are protected and owned solely and exclusively by the Institute. It may grant free licensing of photographs and videos only in specific and specific cases, at its sole discretion, and is not considered a free and publicly accessible image bank. The following licensing rules are intended to balance the institution's image reproduction requests with the need to maintain control over their use. The materials may not be reproduced or used in any way without the express written permission of the Socio-Environmental Institute. Any unauthorized use is expressly prohibited.

Images can be licensed for free only when they meet one or more of the following criteria:

a. When employees of the institution give interviews related to topics covered in reports, articles, stories and other content;
b. When the content to be published is related to projects, initiatives and/or other activities of the institution;
c. When the content is urgent and requires widespread and immediate dissemination. This criterion is subject to internal evaluation.

Orders and approval: Journalists wishing to obtain free licenses for images must submit a formal request to the email imprensa@socioambiental.org, detailing the intended use and justifying its relevance according to the established criteria.

Non-commercial use:
Freely licensed images may not be used for commercial, advertising or promotional purposes.

Citation and credits: When using images, please provide proper authorship credits and include appropriate attribution to Instituto Socioambiental as the licensor. Information must be clear and visible.

Image modification: Modification of licensed images is not permitted.

License Expiration: The Socio-Environmental Institute reserves the right to revoke the free use license at any time, at its sole discretion. Additionally, the license may be revoked by the Socio-Environmental Institute if it finds that the use does not comply with the established criteria, if the use violates the morals, customs, social and/or economic order of the community and/or the individual photographed, or if the situation that justified the license no longer exists.

Legal responsibility: Journalists who license images are responsible for ensuring that their use complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

Acceptance of terms: Journalists requesting licensing of images must read and fully agree to the terms and conditions of reproduction to be sent.

Notice: No warranties are given beyond the authorization of use under this policy. The license granted may not offer all the necessary authorizations for the intended use of the work, such as image rights, privacy, or moral rights of the author. The Socioenvironmental Institute is not responsible for any resulting disputes.
