Indigenous leaders hold a dialogue on April 24th about care, healing and territory at ISA's Espaço Floresta no Centro

Closing the month of April — marked by the struggle of indigenous peoples — the Espaço Floresta no Centro, of the Instituto Socioambiental (ISA), will host, on April 24, a powerful meeting between women who are references in the valorization of the knowledge of their peoples: Ehuana Yanomami and Geni Núñez. The conversation will be mediated and translated by Ana Maria Machado, an anthropologist and indigenous rights activist who has been working in defense of the Yanomami people for over 10 years.
Ehuana Yanomami is a teacher, artist, writer and female leader of the Yanomami people. Co-author of the book "Yipimuwi thëã oni - Written words about menstruation", from 2017, she shares her trajectory, knowledge and forms of organization of Yanomami women in a context of resistance against the constant threats of illegal mining in their territory.

Ehuana Yanomami's artistic works have been featured in museums around the world, with exhibitions at China, USA, France, Spain and other countries. His talent was revealed at a young age, when his first drawings were published in the book “Hwërɨmamotima thë pë ã oni: Handbook of traditional Yanomami remedies”, launched in 2015, which brings together the ancestral knowledge about medicinal plants of its people.
