Gathered in the Khikatxi Village of the Khisetje People, leaders from 25 Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities reaffirmed the fight against government and invaders attacks; read the manifesto letter
leaderships of 25 Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities of the Xingu+ Network gathered last week to defend their rights and territories. The meeting took place in the Khikatxi Village, do Povo kisetje, from the Xingu Indigenous Territory.
It was a time to listen to the leaders of these peoples, realign priorities and strengthen the union for the defense of the forest throughout the Xingu Basin.
Eight organizations have joined the struggle of the Xingu+ Network, which is expanding at a crucial time of attacks on the rights of Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities. It was also a space for exchange between the elders and the youth, where older leaders introduced the younger ones to the collective and showed that the struggle will continue to be alive and active.
